Fitness In Dubuque!!
If you are looking for ways to stay active all year round, check out Dubuque living. When its nice out you can run or take a bike ride on the trails, paddle board on the river, jog the public stairs, and check all the great happenings downtown! When it gets colder you can run out to Sundown and go snowboarding or skiing. There are so many gyms in Dubuque that no matter where you live its hard to be more the ten minutes away from one. However, I like working out in the comfort of my own home. Actually I like working out in my home so no one sees me when I am a sweaty disaster gasping for air. Another plus side of working out in your home is being able to whip up a protein shake and then shower! When we bought our house I made it a point to make sure that I would have a place to work out. Originally, I thought it would be in the lower level family room since it had great hard flooring and an open space but it turns out that the husband and kids wanted to use that for a television area that they never use so I get to use the cap garage as my workout area (treadmill is next to the lawn mower!!). Did I mention I use this every single day, twice a day and the lower level family never gets used?
Anyways, if working out is an important part of your life you should make sure that when you are purchasing a home there is an area you can dedicate to working out if you do not like going to a gym. The basement area is usually the winner for the workout room! Ranch homes are good for this because usually the have a really nice size basement. Basements are a little cooler so it’s nice to have a slightly lower temperature then the rest of the house since you will be working up a sweat. Split level homes, two stories, and split foyers are also work good for gym areas because there is a small basement area that provides enough space for a weight bench and a couple pieces of cardio equipment.
