Favorite Dubuque walking Routes!
On my days when I feel like all I want to do is a leisurely stroll I hit up South Grandview as it is flat so I don’t run out of breath! I like seeing all the trees in the median change color and I am absolutely in love with older homes so this is a good area to check out and see what is available. The older homes have so much character and charm, when you walk in you just feel at home. Sometimes I even stop at an open house if there is one going on. If you decide to walk Grandview be prepared to run into people you know because it is one of the more desirable walking areas.
On days when I want to hike I usually go to Mines of Spain. Its great scenery and quiet!
On days when I need a good work out. I run the public steps and hope I don’t see anyone I know because I am usually gasping for my last breath of life by the time I am done.
Need a dog friendly trail and beautiful scenery then go to the Mississippi River walk. I take my King Charles Spaniel there. She loves it! You will run into to other dog walkers so be sure to have Fido on a leash.
My favorite place to run is Barrington Lakes, and not just because I live in this subdivision! I like that I get to challenge myself with a few hills but not too many. I get to run by the lake and see the kids playing on the beach or the people fishing, and because I am a Real Estate agent I appreciate all the different homes in this area. Sometimes I feel like in the newer subdivisions I have been through every walk out ranch floor plan known to mankind (it’s nice to see some different styles sometimes). Viewing different homes is always a plus on my run. In Barrington lakes there are log style homes, walk out ranches, two stories, homes with lake views, homes with wooded lots in their bad yard, and some homes even have creeks running through the backyard. Most homes don’t last long in this area so I try to scope out any that are new to the market and let my clients know right away. It’s nice to see the kids driving the golf carts around the subdivision, it makes it feel more like a camping trip then where I actually live!
